Meet Gail
Hi, I'm Gail Jewel Hunte, the founder of this small, bespoke tote boutique. This is my heartfelt endeavour to inspire change through creativity and storytelling, two things I hold dear.
My designs are more than just images. They tell stories, often using surreal elements to create something unique and thought-provoking. Whether it’s a rhino floating in a hot air balloon or a whale soaring through the clouds, each tote carries a message. They celebrate wildlife while encouraging meaningful dialogue about conservation.
In everything I do, I blend creativity with a deep love for animal advocacy. As a children’s author, host of the Animal Craze radio series, and editor-in-chief of Animal Talk Magazine (Barbados), I’m lucky to connect with others who share my passion for animals. I also host the YouTube podcast Gail Jewel's Animal Hub where I explore fascinating conversations on animal welfare and conservation.
One of my proudest projects is working with the Phoenix Performers, a talented group of individuals with disabilities. As their writer and director, I’ve seen firsthand the power of creativity to bring people together. I’ve had the honor of receiving the Barbados National Cultural Foundation Environmental Award for a play about the importance of protecting the habitat of the Barbados Green Monkey. I was also deeply touched to receive the Prime Minister’s Certificate of Achievement for another play created with the group. These experiences continue to inspire me every day.
Living close to the ocean in beautiful Barbados, I often find peace in the rhythm of the waves. The ocean offers a perfect escape to reflect and recharge. My beloved cats are a constant source of comfort, and I cherish the ever-changing beauty of the natural world around me—from the clouds drifting overhead to the calming embrace of the sea. These moments of connection with nature fuel my creativity and deepen my commitment to advocating for animals and their habitats.
